Walk the Line at Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville!

Running, travel, food, and music -these are a few of my favorite things! And at Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville, all four converge in perfect harmony. As a follow-up to our Infinite Energy City Guide – our Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle companion travel guide – we created Nashville Notes: a Runner’s Guide to Music City. This lil’ ditty will ensure you get the most out of your Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville race weekend, all plotted, planned, and ready to play.

We partnered with Brooks and tapped into the local running community to curate some of the best spots to see, hear, eat, and drink your way through Nashville – pre- and post-race.

From the best comfort food and hottest live music spots, to the most Instagrammable murals and best place to grab a beer, this guide will make sure you see all that Music City has to offer (minimizing time on feet by including tips like distance to-and-from hotels and race start/finish)!

For inspiration and planning, check out our Nashville Notes: a Runner’s Guide to Music City Pinterest Board.

On race weekend, use our Nashville Notes: a Runner’s Guide to Music City Google Map to help navigate to your favorites. Plus if you snap a pic at any of the locations on our guide, and post it to social using the hashtag #BrooksNashNotes, you’ll be entered to win a pair of Brooks Glycerin 17! Read below for more details.

We’ve included a quick summary of our guide below. Show up, Jam out, and Run Happy!

Nashville Notes: a Runner’s Guide to Music City

The guide includes strategic selections for some key categories to check out while in Nashville. We’ve noted which spots take reservations (key if you are traveling in a group!) and which don’t, but are still worth the wait.

Top Attractions – If you’re visiting Nashville for the 1st time or you’re a regular, we included a mix of “must-see” sights and some “off the beaten path” stops that round out everything this city has to offer.

Murals/Instagram-worthy Spots  – Experience Nashville public art beyond just the music. These iconic Nashville murals are the perfect complement to your food, drink, and music tour! And shareable, oh so shareable! 🤳🤣

Top Coffee Stops These funky coffee stops are a great showcase of Nashville flair and caffeine culture. Pair that vibe with a sweet or savory snack and you have the perfect (runner approved) way to start your day of explorations.

Treats This can be pre- OR post-race, but we always plan a treat to celebrate any finish line. There’s a lot to choose from in Nashville, from baked goods to chocolate to ice cream, and we think you’ll love these options.

Pre-Race Dinner Venture into Germantown for some perfect pre-race dinner options. You’ll find hearty food and friendly faces. But be sure to call in advance to make a reservation for your crew!

Post-Race Brunch Nashville comfort food make brunch a sport of its own, and there are a few options by the finish or in-town that can satisfy any post-race craving. BBQ, biscuits, and Hot Chicken – oh my!. This could be the most important meal of the day!

Post-Race Drinks and More! Nashville has something for everyone to celebrate their finish line glory. Choose from iconic and historic honky tonks, great music, and a modern brewery. Or, make it a bar crawl the perfect pace for a post-race experience!

Shake-Out Routes Use your shakeout to escape the madness and explore new parts of the city. It will give you the perfect recharge before a long day out on the town.

Go-To Running Shops Experience local running culture and connect with one of the many locally-owned running shops in town. They are great go-tos for last minute fuel and/or to reward an awesome race with a new piece of gear. Treat yo’self!
