Our BibRave Pros are a team of awesome run bloggers who run the best races and test the latest products. We asked each of our Pros to answer a few questions about themselves, their running history, and their favorite gear! If you have any comments or additional questions, let them know below!
Name: Bill Brent
Where I live… Allentown, Pennsylvania.
I’ve been a BibRave Pro for… less than a year.
My running shoes are… Adidas Ultraboost and Boston 6.
My favorite race distance is… the half marathon!
My favorite races are… I like the races the Competitor Group (Rock n Roll) puts on, mainly because of the crowds it draws. The Blue Ridge Marathon has become a favorite because of the course support and the post-race festival. The community embraces the marathon and comes out in droves to support it!
My playlist includes… I am typically unplugged. Occasionally I listen to the BibRave podcast or audio books while on a run, but 90% of the time it’s just me and the road.
My pre-race routine is… Let’s be real, it starts the night before with my running gear snap shot. I also review the course, check for water stations, and make sure my watch is charged. I get to the race at-least an hour early. Depending on the race distance, I may have some protein enhanced water on the way to the race. I go for a warm up run, usually 1-3 miles depending on the race distance and do dynamic stretching. I take a pre-race selfie and text my wife.
My race day gear checklist includes… shoes, compression socks if it’s a longer run, compression shorts, running shorts, belt to hold my phone, appropriate top (am I pacing, is it hot, will it get hot?), shades, and Buff.
Why I like being a BibRave Pro… I am really excited to promote races and provide feedback for potential future runners. I am also really excited to be connected to a community of like minded people who have similar goals and passions. I also love giving my audience discounts and connecting them to brands they may love or brands they’ve never heard of.
My favorite episode of The BibRave Podcast is… Do I have to choose one? These are three which stand out:
- #96: Nutrition & Mental Fitness – a conversation with Matt Fitzgerald. I really love Matt’s perspective and already have 2 of his books
- #64: Bart Yasso: Race Everything! I run in Bart’s home town!
- #46: Ian Sharman and Julia’s Grandma’s Marathon report. I think this may have been the first episode I listened to, or maybe I remembered it because of training for elevation, but when I think of the BibRave podcast, I think episode 46.
Post-race I always eat… everything! I like Michelob Ultra after a long race. I like a protein shake to help my muscles recover.
