Meet Team BibRave – Erin

Hello! It’s been so fun getting to know everyone in the BibRave/#BibChat community over the last four years, so we wanted to help you get to know us a bit more. To that end, we asked each member of Team BibRave to answer a few questions about themselves and their running history. If you have any comments or additional questions, let them know below!

  1. My main running goal for this 2017 is/was…
    •  Getting back out there and running coming off of an injury! Last year, I ran with a displaced pelvic joint so this year was all about building up my core, glute, and leg strength to make sure my body is ready to tackle another run!
  2. My running shoes are…
    •  I’m late to the game since they’re no longer making running shoes, but I’ve just purchased a pair of Pearl Izumi’s and I love them!
  3. My total number of races completed (by distance). Break it down!
    Mile x 1
    5K x 14 (not counting 11 parkruns)
    6K x 1
    10K x 8
    12K x 1
    Half x 10
    Full x 2
    Trail Run (12K) x 1

  4. My PR/PBs are…
    5K – 31:57
    10K – 1:06:54
    Half – 2:31:45
    Full – 6:46:51

  5. My favo(u)rite races are…

    •  Race-cation races! There’s no better way to do a vacation than to run and then enjoy the sights and sounds post-race! I’ve done some amazing races this way, including WDW Marathon (as part of the Dopey Challenge – I did ride the rollercoaster halfway through the race!), Honolulu Marathon (26.2 miles of Aloha), Auckland Half Marathon and a 6K down at the Great Ocean Road Marathon Weekend!
  6. My playlist screenshot:
    •  I’m a bit of everything, but it really depends on my mood during the run.   Currently I have on my playlist:
       Beastie Boys – Sabotage
Foo Fighters – All My Life
       Sia – The Greatest
Hamilton Musical Soundtrack – My Shot
       Imagine Dragons – Believer
Sam Hunt – Body Like a Back Road
Stevie Wright – Evie Pt.1, Pt. 2 and Pt 3
       Sia – Never Give Up
Beastie Boys – So Watch’Cha Want
       QOTSA – No One Knows
QOTSA – You Think I Ain’t Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like a MIllionaire
       Foo Fighters – Everlong
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us
Rolling Stones – Sympathy For the Devil
  7. My favo(u)rite motivational/inspirational quote and/or running mantra?
    •  Just keep moving!!
  8. The lessons I’ve learned from running are…
    •  I’m stronger than I give myself credit for and when life throws you obstacles mid-run, you’ve gotta adapt!
  9. My 3-5 most inspiring people are…
    •  Bill and Melinda Gates – not running-related, but the Gates’ are absolutely inspiring in their efforts to change the world for the better. It’s as simple as getting out and running for charity or volunteering at your local race!
    •  Kurt Fearnley – Absolutely inspiring Aussie paralympian and all-round champ! He’s participated in 5 Paralympic Games, and he has won the New York Marathon four times and the Chicago Marathon three times! Additionally, he crawled the entire 60 mi Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea in 10 days for charity in 2009. Just amazing!!!
    •  Kara Goucher – OMG, I’m such a fangirl of Kara. She seems so down-to-earth and wants the best for the sport, even if it means speaking out. Kara is the running friend we all want and is the epitome of GIRL POWER!!!
  10. Two goals on the horizon for me are…
    •  Sub 30-min 5K by end of Feb 2018 and getting back to running 10 miles – that’s my fave distance to run!

So glad you are recovering well and finding your stride again! I love Body Like a Backroad! Do you listen to Keith Urban too? I imagine him to be a big deal in Australia. Haha

    • Keith Urban IS a big deal over here. I don’t really listen to Keith all that much I must admit. I’m sounding totally un-Australian right now!
